We caught up with Mélissa to talk about the “hero pieces” of the season and why designing for kids is a high-stakes game of durability.

Designing for kids isn’t just about shrinking adult gear; it’s about surviving the chaos of a busy airport. “The design needs to be light and resistant,” Lambert explains. “Kids are not gentle with their luggage—they play with it, and they sit on it at the airport”.

To make the gear kid-friendly, TACO added 360-degree wheels for easy maneuvering and customizable stickers so every traveler can make their bag their own. The durability has already been put to the test: Mélissa recalls one young adventurer packing a mini microscope to observe seashells during their travels!

With pieces starting at just $9.99, the collection is as accessible as it is chic. To keep the price point fair without losing that high-style aesthetic, the team focused on what kids actually need.

“We managed to find the best value for money for the suitcase, offering a good price point without compromising on functionality,” says Lambert. “For example, we didn’t include a laptop compartment and the suitcase isn’t expandable, but we make sure the product meets children’s needs and is superior to the competition”.
